Q2: ACO 5.0 - Visual Statement

Our topic message we spoke about was mental illness, and how we can better understand people who are mentally ill and can get them proper help. It is an importance to us because this is a topic some people never like to bring up or just ignore this, for all we know someone around us could be mentally ill and have so many thoughts running through their mind. In some cases it can lead them to homicide or suicide, which is why we're discussing this, to show what you can do to help those who are, how you can notice the signs, and maybe prevent a horrible thing from happening. So our project goal was to make a 2 or 3 minute video discussing a societal issue and addressing the issue, and solutions and further explanation. My partners were Lucas, Shaila, and Trinity, Trinity was the lead editor, Lucas helped film, and Shaila also contributed with the script along with myself and the others. I did the voice over but I feel I wasn't of much help, all I really did was help write and voice over, the rest of my group deserves most of the props for all the hard work.

Most of the challenges we faced weren't that difficult to overcome, but some of the students that we would get from classes couldn't hold in their laughter and so they would end up laughing on a scene where they need to be sad and we'd have to retake it. But like I said it wasn't that much of a challenge, its more of a common thing when getting someone to be in front of the camera. I think the most enjoyable part about this project was most of the filming that took place, we had a good laugh on some parts, and being able to be outside and film was a privilege so yeah, I'd say that was the enjoyable part. So showing by the critique results we got, we were 3rd place. To be honest, I think the results were fair because there were certain things we did in the video and editing incorrectly.

Q2: ACO 1.0 - Modern Art Movement

The art movement my partner and I did was Abstract Expressionism, this art style was described by gestural brush strokes and it came from the unconscious mindset, as cited by the source I found it on. I don't have much to say about this art movement other than it is a really interesting type of way that some artists would turn normal art into something so cool. Artists can change and contribute to culture by giving people ideas on what they can draw or paint, they can look at this art style for inspiration and learn how to do what these artists did better.

Image result for essex 1960

The art above was done by an artist named John Chamberlain in 1960,  I think what they were trying to do was that he vividly colored sculptures using discarded automobile parts. Technology has aided art in a lot of creative ways, now people can use a stylus and a drawing board and connect it to their computer and just like that you can draw digital art. There are also programs online such as blender where you can create even 3D models of things and its pretty cool how much its developed and changed over the years.

Q2: ACO 7.0 - Workplace Safety Video

The project goal was to make a workplace safety video on preventing hostile work environments. What each teammate did to contribute was Edouard worked on the video and edited it together, Seth worked on the digital portfolio part, all of us contributed to writing in the document, and Nicholas and Edouard worked on the sound design. In all honesty Ed and Nick deserve the most recognition because they came up with most of the ideas in it and worked on the video and audio. All Seth and I did was really write the script out and added onto it overtime, Ed and Nick deserve most of the credit.
What I learned about the workplace safety video is that you have to learn to remember your lines accurately otherwise you'll end up having an out of sync voice in the outcome of the video. My biggest takeaway from the project was how long it actually took to make the video, the process of having to re recorded when we messed up, and how long it took us to write the script.

So for our scores, the best we got is relevance of visuals. In all honesty, I think that's what we did the best so I can see why we got the most on that. What we could've done differently for our props is be more prepared and brought in more stuff to work with that was required from the video. I think that would've made it much more better.

ACO 5.0 - Coding Altino Cars

Week 8-9 DIGITAL PORTFOLIO REFLECTION:

I think coding is a very important skill to learn because technology is getting more and more advanced throughout the years and probably within the next 10 years some things will be AI controlled. And most people will probably not even have jobs I think programming will be the biggest well paying job you could get far in the future, since everything will probably be ran by computers, and that's why I think its an important skill to learn.

So challenge #1 was pretty difficult for us at first, because every so often we would get an error in the output underneath the lines. And we kept trying to fix them by doing what it was telling us to do and the attempts wouldn't work so we had to think about what the issue was and finally we fixed it. So challenge #1 wasn't too difficult once we got the hang of it and got the process pretty well. And so we were able to complete challenge one in a way but Joshua kept modifying the script and messing us up a little bit. I felt kinda annoyed for the trial and the error because it was so easily fixable from what we learned and Joshua never let us fix the issue it was always him that would keep going back and forth trying to fix it but it would only make it worse.

So for the second challenge I wasn't here, I was out sick. But what we were supposed to do was make our cars sirens go off and pretend to pick up a civilian and drive back safely without hitting anything. Yesterday they weren't able to finish it, but I don't know, all I heard from my teammates was they were not able to finish it.

ACO 3.0 - Art and Design

The art I'm doing right now I think involves value in the still life paintings. The part I find enjoyable about digital painting is if you make a mistake its so easily fixable with the undo button, where as in real life if you draw too dark and want to undo that mistake you're better of just getting a new piece of paper. And the thing I found the most challenging about digital painting is when you're using a mouse, its pretty difficult to draw an accurate straight line without your hand getting shaky and messing up and then having to undo it, I think thats the most challenging thing its to get used to it and maybe you can develop better skill over practice.

The image that was taken was not mine, Mr. Sandrel gave me this picture to use so all credit goes to him for this photo. I do not know where the image was taken, my assumption is that it was taken on a hill at the beach.

The portrait I was using was an image I took with the macbook in class, the person in it is of course myself. The photo doesn't mean anything to me honestly it's just a drawn on photo I had to complete for the class assignment, I don't really have words to describe what it means to me. The final image using some elements of art said Mr Sandrel, But there are some things I could've drawn to make it a completed drawing of all the elements. I think I got decent feedback and criticism because in all honesty I really did just scribble a bit and I tried to add in shading and more facial detail but I couldn't figure out how to go about that, I do agree with my critique results.

ACO 5.0 - Audio Production

Intonation and inflection is how the pitch variation does distinguish words. Like for example, when your voice rises at the end of a question, that is basically intonation. Inflection however is modulation of the voice, changed in pitch or tone of voice. My role in the assignment was I was doing the audio even though everyone else was speaking as well and helped put together all of the tracks. I think what audios task is to put all of the tracks together so that they make sense and add the sound effects, as well as vocally, you are also the one to do the talking. Before recording the script in one take you need to be confident in yourself I guess, being insecure and lack of confidence can bring you down and not really help you in that process of recording.

Script:

Keio (Host): Hello beautiful people of the earth, I’m your host Keio Wakuta. Welcome to the Game Squad Podcast. On this wonderful day we have 7 special guests, the 7 principles design!

Keio: Our first guest is Comrade Emphasis

Victor (Emphasis) - Good morning my fellow comrades, it is I, Emphasis, it’s time for me to steal the show with my awesomeness because I am the most important principle out of the other principles. I am the center part of the design that catches the audience’s eye.

Keio (Host):Next is Mr Balance and Alignment

Joshua (Balance and Alignment) - It’s balance, balance and alignment, my part as a principle of design is that I make sure that all the elements on a picture are not too colorful but just the right amount. That it has an equal amount of shade to where the eyes can easily glide through the scene.

Outtro: (Phone rings) Hello, I’ll be right there, I’m sorry but someone needs me (car noises) and (water splash)

Keio (Host): When did he get a car in here? And aren’t we in the middle of the city?

Keio (Host): Alright then, our next guest is the wonderful Mr. Contrast!

Victor (Contrast): Hello my fellow Americans, I am contrast. I’m different from all the other principles because I show the differences between all the elements on the design, with differences in color and shading, everything would look boring if I wasn't there.

Keio (Host) That’s very nice maybe you could tell us a little more.

Victor (Contrast): You know I have been thinking a lot about walls recently. Stone walls, Brick walls, Firewalls.

(beep) The recent content is confidential information by the US, please join us next time. (presidential horn)

Keio (Host): Okay then, now on to Repetition.

Joshua (Repetition): H-h-h-h-h-h-hello everybody, I’m R-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-r-repetition I make sure that your art is unified and more strengthened than it was before

Keio (Host): Well that very nice but your time has just been cut short

Joshua (Repetition): W-w-w-wait (trap door opens dropping sound)

Keio (Host): Wow he hit the ground hard, well then our next guest is Proportion

Victor (Proportion): Greetings,I am proportion. As the 5th principle of design my job is to make sure all elements of a design are well sized and thoughtfully placed, speaking of thoughtfully placed, this microphone is tilted 2 inches to the left let me just fix that.

Keio (Host): Thank you proportion, now onto Movement

Joshua (Movement): (constant moving) (always talking) Hey guys I’m movement I’m the way a person guides through the information by controlling the elements in a way that lets your eyes move or bounce from one piece of information to the next.

Keio (Host): And last but not least, onto our final element, white space… um white space?

Victor (White space): Huh..? oh right right, hello I’m white space…… I am the 7th principle of design, and as…...white space I’m the part of the art you don’t add anything to. …………….I’m the empty space around the eleme…….

Keio (Host): Well I think he’s dead, no wait he’s still breathing, well folks that was the last and final principle of design. Thank you and goodnight... (car crash) Um was that Balance and Alignment?

Joshua (Balance and Alignment): I’m back!

Keio (Host): No, the podcast is over, get out of my basement!

(Outro music)

The results of our project were really good surprisingly, our team met the project goal on a scale of 1-10 we got a 8 I would say. The way we kept our audience engaged is because of the voices I did, that was humorous to them. The obstacles we faced weren't too bad, Joshua and Keio would laugh at the contrast voice I made so I had to redo contrast like 4 times, they had to leave the room because of it. If I got to do this project again with the same people, I honestly didn't think we needed improvement on much, I think a little more explanation for the elements would've been better.

ACO 6.0 - Proprietary Information

Week 3-4 DIGITAL PORTFOLIO REFLECTION:

The FCC is the Federal Communications Commission, it is an independent agency of the united states government. To regulate interstate communications by radio, television, wire, satellite, and cable. Copyright infringement is the use of works protected by copyright law without permission, infringing certain exclusive rights granted to the copyright holder. The steps to using copyrighting material are a 5 step task, first, determine if the permission is needed, two, identify the owner, three, identify the rights needed, four, plan ahead for permission, five, contact the owner and negotiate wether payment is required or not, sixth and final step, get your permission agreement in writing.

Confidentiality is basically keeping something a secret, something that no one else can know about. Some examples of what you should keep private are your password, your actual name, where you live. Social media has an impact on confidential information in kind of a bad way, most people give out tons of information of them in their bio and its about the dumbest thing you can do. And depending on if your account is private, you gotta be careful with what you post because later on in life it can come back and bite you hard.
